Director of the Centre for Rare Diseases, University Hospital of Giessen, Germany

Christina Lampe is Director of the Centre for Rare Diseases of the Department of Child Neurology, Epileptology and Social medicine, Center for Paediatric and Adolescent Medicine at the University Hospital of Giessen, Germany.

Dr Lampe’s main interests are craniocervical stenosis and skeletal problems in MPS. After studying medicine at the Humboldt-University of Berlin (Charité), Berlin, Germany, she completed her internship at the Surgical Department of the same university. Since 2007, she has been a consultant in surgery. During 2007, Dr Lampe first worked in a surgical private practice and then changed to the Villa Metabolica at the Department of Paediatric and Adolescent Medicine, University Medical Centre of the Johannes Gutenberg-University of Mainz, Germany, where she worked as the attending physician for 150 paediatric and adult patients with mucopolysaccharidosis (MPS). In January 2014, together with Professor Maurizio Scarpa, Dr Lampe set up a Centre for Rare Diseases at the Dr Horst Schmidt Kliniken in Wiesbaden, Germany. Since October 2018, she set up a Center for Rare Diseases at the University Hospital in Giessen (ZSEGI), Germany.

Association in the European Union of Medical Specialists (UEMS) for many years and is a Board Member of the CME/CPD Coordination Committee of Medical Specialist Societies in the Turkish Medical Association.
